The Y is the fork

SLYNG started as a verb. I'll sling you some sats. I'll sling you a note later. It needed a spelling of its own, and the odd one turned out to be the point: the Y in the middle of the word is a slingshot.

So the app is one. The people you follow stand on the fence. You aim by pulling the other way, the band tells you how much, and when you let go it lands with them: sats over lightning, and a note sealed so only they can read it.

How it works

Let an agent aim

An agent can aim the slingshot. Only a person lets go.

Any agent can make a link that opens SLYNG aimed at someone, with a note tied on and a suggested amount marked on the band. You read it, pull back, and let go, or you don't.

An agent with a nostr key and a wallet of its own can sling by itself, the way SLYNG does: a zap for the sats and a gift-wrapped note for the words. The files: skill.md (the steps, for agents) and llms.txt (this list).

Everything on this page: sats and private notes to anyone on nostr, with your own key and your own wallet. No account, and no cut taken.

Stall

Planned table fee of 2,100 sats a month for founding sellers. Nothing is charged now.

A stall at slyng.ing, the flea market: local goods to meet up for and digital ones to sling. A stall-keeper that haggles for you and turns away lowballers, and a cut for whoever reposts your listing into a sale.

The fine print

No account, no server of ours
This page talks to nostr relays and to the lightning address servers of the people you sling to, straight from your browser. Nothing goes through SLYNG.
Your key
With a nostr extension, your key never touches this page. A key made or pasted here stays in this browser, for this tab unless you ask to be remembered. It signs from a page, so keep it for everyday amounts and keep your main key in an extension.
Your sats
Sats go from your own wallet, through a browser wallet or Nostr Wallet Connect, straight to theirs. SLYNG never holds them. Before your wallet pays, the page checks that the invoice is for exactly the amount you pulled. Lightning payments are final.
What's public
Sats go as a zap, and zaps are public on nostr: anyone can see who sent how much to whom. The note travels separately, encrypted and gift-wrapped (NIP-17), so relays can see neither the words nor who sent them.
Catch it back
While the stone is in the air, you can catch it back and nothing is sent.
Demo
Until you sign in, the sats are pretend and the people on the fence are made up. Nothing leaves the page.
